Our Winery located just north of Kingscote overlooks the Bay of Shoals and Reeves Point, site of the first settlement in South Australia.
The first vines were planted on the hillsides in 1993, they are hand pruned and the grapes hand picked. There are now 25 acres including Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. These premium grapes are grown in a true maritime climate, the wines reflecting this quality environment with intense varietals flavours.

Our Cellar Door has been built and is open from 11 till 5pm daily, except Christmas Day & Good Friday. The design and interior d??cor has been created by Bernie Walsh. Bernie is responsible for the attractive Pelican label. The work of Indiana James features as well as several pieces of maritime history, including the Chronometer from the Karatta and many boating items. All five of our varieties are available for tasting and are served in our famous Pelican Glasses while enjoying the captivating view over the Bay of Shoals.

Island Brew was established in 2006 by Kellie Connell and Brenton Lovering from Kangaroo Island.

The first beer that has been produced is Island Pale. Island Pale is a true, single malt pale ale made exclusively from Kangaroo Island barley and honey. It is the first genuine KI beer.

Island Pale is a well-balnced beer, with no preservatives and an alcohol content of 4.5%

Brenton and Kellie ensure the uniqueness of Island Pale, by overseeing the process, literally from the ground up. Quality grains and batches of honey are selected at harvest and then brewed in batches of only 2000 litres, ensuring beer connoisseurs a truly handcrafted process.

Brenton and Kellie will launch several new and interesting varieties within the next 6 months. They also plan to construct their own small microbrewery, which will enable visitors to taste and match KI beer to a range of Kangaroo Island products.

Jim Barry’s involvement with the Clare Valley began in 1947 when he graduated from Roseworthy Agricultural College and accepted a position with the Clarevale Cooperative.
In 1959 he and his wife purchased their first vineyard. More vineyards followed and by 1974 Jim and Nancy had established their own winery. Today Jim Barry Wines are renowned for both their red and white wines, and are distributed in more than 25 countries around the world.

A former dairy farm, the original buildings have been preserved, restored and incorporated in Longview’s tourism business. The dairy has been renovated into a private tasting and function area featuring a large open fire place and industrial kitchen, all surrounded by a spacious decking area overlooking the vineyard. The hay shed, now function area, was restored to retain its character and charm , original galvanized iron cladding and natural timber supports. Owner, Jacques Lurton, world renowned Flying Winemaker developed the estate to include an impressive 70 tonne on-site winery, respecting the classic Australian style. The equipment has mainly been brought from France with sorting tables to select the best of the grapes after destemming, concrete open fermenters with temperature control for fermentation and large wooden vats for ageing.

Hand made by our hands. This is James and Annabelle Tilbrook’s vineyard and winemaking philosophy. James’ background is farming and wine retailing in England. Through in depth experience of the wines of the world (especially France, Italy and Spain), extensive reading, and vintage work including Oregon, Tasmania (Pipers Brook Vineyard) and High Eden (Mountadam), he has developed his own vineyard and winemaking methods.

Our vineyard, based in the beautiful Lenswood region is unique with French inspired low yielding, multi clonal, close planted vines on low vigour rootstocks, and terracing across steep slopes, where we grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris (planted 2005). The vineyard was established in 1999.

Our winery and cellar door is in The Old Onkaparinga Woollen Mills, in Lobethal. We started making wine there in 2003. Our building is solid red brick and was built around 1900 and is one of the smallest ‘from grape to bottle’ wineries in the Adelaide Hills. At the cellar door you can see right into the winery, and meet the winemaker, as well as taste the range in the comfort of a sophisticated setting, with a blazing wood fire in winter. During the summer why not sit outside with a glass of wine and a light meal?

Next door is the Heart of The Hills Market where you can sample gourmet food, fresh local produce, have a coffee or look at the wonderful range of wares and crafts
